Fitamin C

What is Fitamin C and how can it help you achieve your fitness goals? Find out below…

Hi. I’m Cat Johnson and welcome to Fitamin C!

Who am I, what is Fitamin C and how can it help you achieve your fitness goals?

Well, I’m a 40 something mum of two adults (physically maybe not so much mentally!), proud Welsh lady (proper Gavin & Stacey accent… tidy, lush, who’s coat is that jacket…. You get the gist?), who somehow became engaged to an Englishman, (six nations is always fun and the poor guy has the patience of a saint to put up with me), I love the game of egg chasing, a good gin & tonic and I’m founder and owner of Fitamin C.

How It Began...

I’d always enjoyed fitness, recreationally rather than anything else, until around 6 ½ years ago when I was approached to become a Kettlercise Instructor for a ladies fitness centre. Kettlercise is a form of kettlebell training, using lighter weights and no rest periods…  I’d been attending classes and obviously did something right for them to ask me to become an instructor.  I then, alongside Kettlercise, took my qualifications in Kettlercise Hcore (an extension of Kettlercise using two kettlebells instead of one) and HCore Lean (a HIIT program devised by kettlercise HQ) and Kettlercise Combat M-X.

A Passion For Running

My other great passion is Running, which led me on to taking my UKA LiRF qualification 3 years ago (Leader in running fitness). I’d used to run alone, had never run more than 10k and had only ever taken part in one race up until that point and that was a 10k charity race.

I started a run group at the fitness centre and in our first year, I trained 37 non-runners to go from couch to 5k, then on to run the Cardiff Half Marathon.   A major achievement for them taking their first step into running and their ages ranged from late 20’s to 50+. This is one achievement I will always be particularly proud of. I was awarded the Welsh Athletics Run Leader of the year 2017 award for my achievements.

During all this, my running went from strength to strength too as I started training harder, running longer and entering more races.  It’s not just about pushing others, it’s about improving yourself too, right? I have since completed plenty of half marathons, Marathons (one being Cyprus in 2019 when I was placed 3rd in my age category), a few 50k ultras and Race to the Stones 100km race, which I completed in 14 hours and came 8th in my age category (not bad for a first double ultra!).

Fitness Classes and Personal Training

In Sept 2018 I was approached to join Snap Fitness, which was opening in my hometown, to start teaching a variety of fitness classes and this was when Fitamin C was born.  How did I come up with the name?  I wanted something to do with vitamins, health & fitness and Vitamin C (being called Cat) seemed the only option… while discussing it with my better half, he suggested I changed the V of Vitamin to an F and it stuck!

Since being at Snap, I have been furthering my Personal Trainer qualifications, and in August 2019 I quit my full-time job and took the big (and very scary) leap into the world of self-employment.  Since then I have qualified as a level 2 gym instructor, have gained qualifications in Spin, Vibe cycle LEVEL 2, Suspension training, Kettlebells (not Kettlercise) and circuit training and I’m now moving onto my Level 3 qualification for PT.

I have developed a strong and loyal client base in both Personal Training and also my Online Classes, bringing a sense of fun, passion and definitely hard work to everything I do!
