// There really are ALWAYS lessons to be learned.
As a general rule I don’t believe in OVER POSITIVITY; I think a lot of societal problems stem from those that always expect something positive to come from something bad. Events get dressed up as ‘BAD LUCK’ which just relinquishes accountability and creates an ACCEPTANCE of mediocrity.
Having said that, I can’t help but see some positives around me now. At a time when I least expected it and from surprising sources.
I’ve noticed strength around me in those where I’ve never (shamefully), really noticed it before. PERSISTENCE in solving tasks, ADAPTABILITY in learning new skills from the little people around me; Traits that seems reserved only for them; something that growing up seems to slowly and cruelly strip us of. A more selfless ppreciation and consideration for more peripheral members of families. I’ve noticed a sense of camaraderie with ‘strangers’, that I’ve personally NEVER witnessed before. Appreciation that we understand we’re part of something SIGNIFICANT.... TOGETHER. I’ve observed an apparent awareness of a ‘bigger picture’; Acknowledging neighbours more frequently. Even nods and more ‘hello’s’ to passing strangers (albeit at an awkwardly wider berth than normal). A newly discovered respect that although we may live extremely different lives for one reason or another, our lives do still revolve around a few shared basic principles; providing for ourselves and families and some social interaction, acceptance and belonging.
Express your appreciation for, learn from and harness strength from those you love. Tolerate and accept those that you don’t see eye to eye with. We’re all human. Maybe someday we’ll learn a lesson from them or they’ll learn a lesson from you.
